No – Safari 14 Does Not Block Google Analytics

Last week there were rumours that this was the case when in fact, it is not. Safari are including Intelligent Tracking Prevention which will impact the ability for sites to track users, however, Google Analytics is a first-party analytics platform in that it stores first-party cookies on the browser for the site.

For better or for worse, one of the previews showed that is listed among the trackers that are being prevented on websites.

Queue panic and the spread of misinformation like wildfire through the dry brush of first-party analytics.

Apple Insider was quick to report on this, going so far as to say that “…the browser now completely blocks Google Analytics…”.
