Responsive Web Design: The FIFA World Cup Tracker
A look into how the BBC tackled the UX problem of displaying groups and schedules during the world cup across a variety of devices, written by a designer within the UX & Design team. Like the Foundation article this week they settled on Flexbox to handle the tricky layout with a fixed non-responsive pixel conditional classes for IE8 & IE9.
We learnt a lot during this first phase and subsequently over the past 18 months – working alongside our developers from early on in the process we did a lot of initial prototyping and spikes. This helped to inform our approach and build upon our foundation for our first major releases.
